Description
This trail follows the old Camino Real (“royal road” or main island route) that connected Santiago del Teide with Puerto Santiago, on the west coast of the island.
The route starts in the square of Santiago del Teide and takes you to the centre of El Molledo. Once in this village, you will find a slightly descending path on the right, flanked by abandoned farmland.
Follow the path to the next fork and continue along the path that descends to the left until you reach Tamaimo.
At this point, cross the ravine and continue along the path surrounded by farms and greenhouses. Shortly after, take the stone steps leading to a dirt track.
This track, which descends steadily, will take you to the upper part of Puerto Santiago, the end of your route.
Here you can take in spectacular views at the foot of the cliffs of Los Gigantes, enjoy a dip in the beaches and natural pools, or take a well-deserved rest in one of the many popular bars and restaurants.
