Macizo de Teno

Difficulty: Medium

Description

This route starts at Plaza de Las Libreas (El Palmar) and heads towards Las Lagunetas along Camino Las Huertas, a continuous but gentle ascent.

Leave the village behind and head towards Las Portelas, then take Camino de El Medio. This is a traditional old camino real (“royal road” or main island route) that will take you to Albergue de Bolico, a hostel next to the Cumbres de Bolico viewpoint and its spectacular panoramic views of the Teno Rural Park.

From here the path continues gently uphill along Camino de Las Barreras, entering the monteverde forest and passing Casas de la Cumbre, the former dwellings of the tenant farmers of Finca de Bolico.

Tips

 - Always stay on the marked trail and do not enter private property, hunting grounds, water galleries, wells or caves.
- Pay special attention when crossing or walking along trails used by bicycles, horses or motor vehicles and when walking in ravines with water courses.
- Avoid direct encounters with potentially dangerous animals, such as livestock, beehives, and dogs.
- Proceed with caution and watch for obstacles, loose rocks, uneven terrain or steep slopes to avoid accidents and falls.
- Check out our guide to hiking in Tenerife and, if necessary, contact the emergency services by calling 112.
