SIMULATION of volcanic risk in Tenerife (26 September)
The Island Council of Tenerife will activate tomorrow the Insular Action Plan for Volcanic Risk (PAIV) to carry out a simulation in different municipalities of the island. The aim is to strengthen coordination and preparedness of all parties involved in the event of a potential volcanic emergency.
SIMULATION
The Island Department of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, in coordination with Tenerife’s CECOPIN, has announced the activation of the Insular Action Plan for Volcanic Risk (PAIV) under a pre-alert situation. This is a simulation that will take place on 26 September, with the purpose of testing response protocols and ensuring the safety of the population.
The exercise will focus on the municipalities of Garachico, Icod de los Vinos, El Tanque, Los Silos, Buenavista del Norte, Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide.

Among the planned measures during the simulation are:
- Closure of road access to Teide National Park and the forest crown.
- Restricted access to forest tracks and trails.
- Suspension of hunting activities.
- Closure of access to the Teno Rural Park.
Although this is only an exercise, the scenario will simulate a volcanic eruption on the north-western ridge of Tenerife, with the aim of training emergency teams for a real risk situation.
Authorities stress the importance of remaining calm and remind the public that this is a scheduled simulation. Citizens will be kept informed at all times through official communication channels.
