Cabildo de Tenerife authorises passage along the Camino Viejo de Candelaria despite wildfire risk restrictions
The exception will allow the traditional pilgrimage to the Villa Mariana, despite the activation of Level 3 preventive measures against forest fires.
The Cabildo de Tenerife has authorised the use of the Camino Viejo de Candelaria, on the stretch between Llano del Moro and Igueste de Candelaria, from 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, 14 August 2025, for the pilgrimage to the Virgin of Candelaria.
The decision, signed by the Island Councillor for the Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, has been adopted on an exceptional basis, despite Level 3 preventive measures for extreme wildfire risk having been in force on the island since 8 August.
According to the resolution, this exception responds to a proposal from the Technical Service for Forest Management and applies solely to the specified section. The rest of the trails and mountain access routes remain subject to the restrictions established to prevent the outbreak and spread of fires.

The Cabildo reminds that, although the path will be open, walkers must exercise extreme caution and comply with safety instructions, given the current risk situation.
