Description
This authorised bivouac area is located on the slopes of the most iconic peak of the National Park, on Mount Teide, specifically on the left side of the PNT 07 Montaña Blanca – La Rambleta trail, on its final stretch, for which a prior booking is required.
It is located at an altitude of over 2,500 metres, which means that the weather conditions are extreme (cold, wind, high levels of sunshine, etc.), changeable (temperatures can vary by more than 20°C from day to night) and in many cases unpredictable, so suitable equipment is required.
Bivouacking on Mount Teide involves sleeping or resting during the night in the open air, with or without the use of shelter – sleeping bag or bivvy bag – or with the resources that occur naturally in the environment, without altering it in any way, which means tents or similar are forbidden.
Tips
- Enjoy the local plant life and wildlife; it is okay to be curious but always from a distance and without causing harm.
- Respect natural and cultural values by following the instructions and restrictions given by the Park staff and the authorities, and by following the signs.
- Keep the environment clean and do not litter or discard cigarette butts.

This permit is issued in accordance with the Master Plan for the Use and Management of Teide National Park (Decree 153/2002 of 24 October 2002) and is subject to environmental regulations and the following conditions; failure to comply with them may constitute an infringement punishable under current legislation:
- The booking is only valid for the bivouac area, time, day and people listed on the document, and the person in charge must be an adult.
- You are not allowed to change the date of the authorised activity; if you do so, you must cancel the booking and apply for a new permit.
- The booking must be shown together with the document proving the identity of the authorised persons (original or certified copy of ID card or passport) at the request of the National Park staff or law enforcement officers, whose instructions must be followed. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in the cancellation of the permit.
- The pitching of tents or similar structures is forbidden
- Do not alter the environment – leave no trace
- Bivouacking is only permitted in authorised areas, which are located in restricted-use areas.
- Fires are only permitted for preparing food and only with gas stoves, which must be placed on a level surface, free of vegetation and nearby objects.
- Littering and the disposal of liquids is prohibited
- Matches and cigarettes must be carefully extinguished
- Amplified sounds are prohibited
- No plucking, cutting or damaging wild flora, no collecting their fruits, flowers or seeds. It is also forbidden to kill, capture, injure or disturb wild animals, including their nests, young, larvae or eggs.
- No collecting, destroying or altering geological features.
- No pets, except for guide dogs.
- No drones.
- You should take at least the following equipment: hiking shoes, warm jacket, long trousers or mountain leggings, water or hydrating liquids, energy food and a torch.
Recommendations
- Do not walk on the trails after dark

- People with heart, respiratory or mobility problems are advised not to do this activity
- Please cancel your booking if you do not do the activity.
To guarantee your personal safety, this permit will be cancelled in cases where the access trails are closed due to unforeseen circumstances, such as: warnings of a high risk of forest fire, adverse weather conditions, landslides, construction work, etc.
