🌲 The Tenerife Island Council has established a general permit for hiking on trails and tracks in protected natural areas, organised by active tourism companies and legal entities. This measure responds to the growing demand for nature-based activities and is intended to streamline administrative procedures. Now, companies will not need to apply for individual permits for each route or date but can organise the routes under general conditions that ensure the sustainable and compatible use of the trails.

🛑 Exclusions and Conditions: Some trails and specific areas are excluded from this permit, such as those in the El Pijaral Strict Nature Reserve, Teide National Park and other trails subject to bookings or with restricted access. The permit is only valid for trails that are signposted and accessible through the Tenerife ON platform. Furthermore, hiking activities cannot coincide with other events that could give rise to conflicts, such as sports competitions or wildlife culls.

👣 Requirements for Companies: Active tourism companies must ensure that groups do not exceed 30 participants and must comply with the requirements set out in Decree 226/2017 to ensure the safety of participants. Each company must also display its badge with registration code and compulsory insurance. This permit will be in force until 31 December 2026 and can be renewed or modified as necessary.
